In 2008 Dr Kerryn Griffiths completed a PhD in coaching/education through the Centre for Learning Innovation at the Queensland University of Technology. Her thesis explains the learning processes underpinning coaching and she has published a series of papers in international academic journals: Publications: Griffiths, K. & Campbell, M. (2009). Discovering, applying and integrating: The process of learning in coaching. International Journal for Evidence Based Coaching and Mentoring, 7(2), 16-31. Griffiths, K. & Campbell, M. (2008). Semantics or substance? Preliminary evidence in the debate between life coaching and counselling. Coaching: An International Journal of Theory, Research and Practice, 1(2), 164-175. Griffiths, K. & Campbell, M. (2008). Regulating the regulators: Paving the way for international, evidence-based coaching standards. International Journal for Evidence Based Coaching and Mentoring, 6(1), 19-31. Griffiths, K. (2005). Personal coaching: A model for effective learning. Journal of Learning Design, 1(2), 55-65.
Kerryn now writes and disseminates Coaching Research in Practice, a monthly email newsletter that highlights evidence-based coaching research and provides practical recommendations for coaches to apply research to their coaching practice. Each issue of Coaching Research in Practice provides an overview of an evidence-based coaching study and its findings, as well as suggested implications/applications for the research findings in your coaching practice. Most importantly, there's no academic gobbledy-gook and it's never longer than one A4 page. It's doing what research should do: provide practical relevance for practising coaches. Here are our issues to date: The process of learning in coaching
